Wolverhampton Wanderers picked up an impressive point against the Premier League champions at Molineux.
A number of Wolves fans have taken to Twitter to praise Ryan Bennett’s performance as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men picked up a point from their clash with Manchester City at Molineux on Saturday.
The Championship title winners were more than a match for Pep Guardiola’s side, with Raul Jimenez sending the Cityzens an early warning as he put the ball into the back of the net having strayed a yard offside in the build-up.
City threatened to strike their own blows however, and it was only after a remarkable save from Rui Patricio that Raheem Stirling saw his incredible strike deflected onto the bar during the first-half.
It was Wolves who took the lead with Willy Boly scoring after the break. The defender appeared to put the ball in with his hand, but none of the officials – or Manchester City players, it seemed – managed to spot how the ball found its way into the net.
City would equalise through Aymeric Laporte, but Wolves would manage to hold on in the latter stages to ensure that the points were shared and ensure that City’s flawless start to the campaign lasted just two games.
After the game, many of the fans lauded Bennett’s display. The defender has not always been a player that has caught the supporters’ eye, especially as they continue to recruit marquee signings on a regular basis, but the Molineux faithful were incredibly impressed by the 28-year-old, who arrived on a free transfer ahead of the start of last season.
