Wolverhampton Wanderers will travel to Bristol City in the fifth round of the FA Cup should they triumph in their fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury Town.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s charges came within a whisker of being on the receiving end of a giant killing as the League One Shrews led going into injury time of the game at the New Meadow.

However, Matt Doherty’s 93rd-minute equaliser salvaged a 2-2 draw, keeping Wolves in the hat for round five and, should they win their replay at Molineux, they will face a team currently chasing a Championship playoff place.

Last season, Wolves and City played two notable games in the league – a 3-3 draw at Molineux in September which included a goal apiece in the final 10 minutes, and a 2-1 win at Ashton Gate in which both sides were reduced to ten men and Ryan Bennett scored a dramatic 94th-minute winner.

Given Wanderers have developed a knack of scoring late goals in recent games, there could well be a repeat of the absolute scenes in Bristol from that game in December 2017 – but of course, there’s Shrewsbury standing in the way first.
