Wolverhampton Wanderers hardly put up a fight on Monday evening as Manchester City coasted to a comfortable 3-0 win over Nuno Espirito Santo’s men – and Wolves fans blasted Ryan Bennett for his performance.

City opened the scoring after Leroy Sane squared inch-perfectly for Gabriel Jesus to slide home from six yards out, before things got a lot worse as defender Willy Boly was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Bernardo Silva.

It was Bennett, 28, that conceded a penalty for City’s second, fouling Raheem Sterling after the England attacker got on the wrong side of the robust defender. Jesus stepped up, and scored his second of the game.

Kevin De Bruyne’s cross after the break caused havoc and Connor Coady could do little to avoid edging the ball into his own net, past Rui Patricio.

Though a foregone conclusion following Boly’s red card, Wolves hardly put up a fight against the Premier League champions despite earning a point against Guardiola’s men at Molineux earlier in the season.

Wolves fans took to Twitter after watching their side dismantled by City, and plenty were sceptical of Bennett’s place in the starting eleven after his performance at the back alongside Coady and Boly.
