Wolverhampton Wanderers were linked to Chris Wood prior to him signing for Leeds United.
Chris Wood of Leeds United celebrates scoring against Sheffield Wednesday
Leeds United striker Chris Wood is a man in form, netting his 20th league goal this season at the weekend to give the Whites a win over Sheffield Wednesday.
The fortunes of the striker and his club are directly opposite to the side who rivalled Leeds for his signature, Wolves.
The Leicester Mercury reported in 2015 that both sides had bids accepted by Leicester City, but Leeds pushed hardest and won the race.
At the time Wolves fans reacted on Twitter with relief, with comments stating the fee Leeds paid was ‘daylight robbery’ on Leicester’s part, and hailing their side’s ‘lucky escape’.
Fast forward to the present day and there is a big turn around.
Leeds are in fourth position in the Championship and Wood has scored 20 goals by late February, and Wolves are getting dragged into a relegation battle.

The top scorer at Wolves is winger Helder Costa with 10, but no striker has netted above four goals.
On Friday evening Wolves were defeated at home to Birmingham City, who prior had won only once since mid-December. Wolves sit currently in 20th position, just four points above the relegation zone.
A day later Wood struck to give Leeds a vital win over Sheffield Wednesday, and Wolves fans appear to have changed their tune on the striker, wishing they had him at their disposal right now…
