Julen Lopetegui could reportedly recall Fabio Silva back to Wolves in the January transfer window if the Premier League side fail to sign a new striker in the market.
According to the Athletic, Wolves are putting plans in motion to potentially buy Silva’s loan contract from R.S.C. Anderlecht in an attempt to recall the attacker to Molineux, with striker the main position Lopetegui wants to improve on in the January window.
Silva was signed by Wolves from FC Porto back in 2020 for a reported £35m. Yet since moving to England, the 20-year-old striker has failed to settle in the Premier League, with the youngster bagging just four goals in over 60 appearances for the West Midlands side.
As a result, Silva was loaned out to Anderlecht for the season where the striker has hit the ground running, with the Portuguese talent bagging nine goals in all competitions and bagging three assists as well. And now, Wolves could bring the youngster back to England in January.

Indeed, Wolves recalling Silva would be quite a surprising move from Lopetegui given how poor the attacker has done in the past two seasons in the Premier League. However, if the Molineux side are out of options, the 20-year-old striker is hardly the worst option to fall back on.
The attacker has found his feet this season in Belgium with Anderlecht. And although Silva could still struggle at Wolves, there’s no denying that the centre-forward has developed nicely this season in Brussels, with the attacker now having the confidence to impress in the Premier League.
Wolves recalling Silva is not the worst idea for January solution

After spending big in the summer and having to pay off Bruno Lage’s contract to sack the Portuguese coach, cash might be limited in January for Lopetegui to spend. Which is why recalling Silva isn’t the worst idea for Wolves to solve their goalscoring problems.
After all, the attacker has been impressive for Anderlecht this campaign and has been a regular source of goals for the Belgian giants. And for Wolves, the 20-year-old could be a wildcard option to help Lopetegui’s side find the back of the net after a lacklustre campaign.
