Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster Niall Ennis has been confirmed as a loan transfer target for Plymouth Argyle by their manager Ryan Lowe, who described the Molineux academy graduate as a “fantastic footballer” (Plymouth Herald).

The 20-year-old is currently with Wolves on their pre-season tour in China and was named on the bench for their 4-0 win over Newcastle United, coming on in the 62nd minute of the friendly in Nanjing.

There was speculation earlier this week that League Two side Plymouth were in “advanced talks” over a potential loan move for Ennis and, in conversation with the Plymouth Herald, Lowe said: “He’s one of many on the list.

“Niall Ennis is a fantastic footballer. He has represented England, he’s a quality striker. But there are probably other clubs that are in for Niall Ennis, like we are in for other players.”

Bury assistant manager Ryan Lowe looks on during the Sky Bet League One match between Northampton Town and Bury at Sixfields on November 25, 2017 in Northampton, England.

Ennis, who has been capped for the Three Lions from Under-16 to under-19 level, has made three Checkatrade Trophy starts for Wolves and also made his first-team debut as a late substitute in a 3-2 home FA Cup fourth-round replay victory over Shrewsbury Town in February.

The talented young forward is making good progress in his career after twice having to come back from a fractured fibula as well as a serious knee injury two games into a loan stint at Shrewsbury.
