Sunderland play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship on Sunday.
Wolves duo Danny Batth and Barry Douglas spoke exclusively to the Express & Star, and shared the message that Nuno Espirito Santo has given the players ahead of their final game of the season away at Sunderland on Sunday.
The Black Country outfit have been quite simply magnificent this season, and have led the Championship table since October 31st.
Nuno deserves great credit for the manner in which he has gone about his business since taking over at Molineux last summer, and many believe that he has already built a squad who are well capable of finishing inside the top 10 in the Premier League next term.
Batth and Douglas offered an insight into how demanding Nuno is, when speaking exclusively to the Express & Star.
The Wolves skipper shared the message that the Portuguese has given the players ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Black Cats:
“The manager’s massive on it, we want to prove we’re the best by beating every team in the league. We knew Sunderland on the last day would be a tough game – we’ll go there full of confidence but we certainly won’t be looking at the league table.”
Douglas echoed Batth’s sentiments:
“There’s still an objective. The gaffer will 100 per cent be on at us, there’s no let up and we’ll be training hard. To reach 100 would be a nice tally to round off the season and it gives us another ambition to achieve.”
Wolves can eclipse the 100 point mark with a draw on Sunday, and become only the fifth team to do that in England’s second tier since three points for a win was introduced in 1981.
One thing is for sure, it would take a brave man to bet against them doing just that.
