Moving quickly to replace him, Wolves brought in former Sampdoria boss, Walter Zenga.

Wasting no time in strengthening his squad, Zenga brought in 8 players as well as 5 loan signings, including Angers’ Romain Saiss, Monaco’s Ivan Cavaleiro and Benfica’s Helder Costa.

Wolves start to the season was somewhat positive, winning two out of their first 5 fixtures in August, including wins against Reading and rivals Birmingham City.

A 2-0 win against Newcastle United in September had Wolves fans dreaming of promotion, as their form looked to be slowly picking up.

However, after a winless October, Wolves parted company with Walter Zenga, turning instead to former Aston Villa boss, Paul Lambert. With the January transfer window approaching, Lambert will be hoping to be able to bring in his own players, to turn this Championship giant’s fortunes around in 2017.
