In the game against Cardiff City, the weight of holding a lead collapsed on top of Wolverhampton Wanderers. They are in dire need of a revamp at the back and that has never been more obvious than during Lambert’s first few weeks in charge.
The defending for the Bluebirds’ first goal was a big enough indicator, but the fact they went on to actually lose the game is the real punchline in this ongoing joke. It’s not even just how incapable they look at the back either, because in the first half things were looking really positive.

This runs throughout the team. The tactical awareness and positioning has been so poor, and the defence isn’t in a strong enough position to make decisions for the midfield. It’s a combined effort of misery and disappointment that makes fans question when they are going to be able to keep a clean sheet again.
There’s nothing worse than going into a game knowing you are going to concede, and that is unfortunately the position that Wolves find themselves in right now. If there’s one thing that has become clear, it’s that Lambert is going to have to do some serious restructuring within the defensive areas in the January transfer window.
