Wolves are looking to sign Tammy Abraham on a permanent basis, report The Sun.

Abraham is on loan at Aston Villa and this could now be cut short.

He is the Championship’s joint leading scorer with 16 goals, despite missing the first six matches of the season.

Abraham struggled in the Premier League on loan at Swansea last season, but Wolves should trust their instincts and push to sign the talented young forward.

The move is reminiscent of their move to sign Benik Afobe in 2015.

Afobe had been crushing a loan spell with MK Dons in League One, scoring 19 goals in the first half of the season.

Despite Afobe’s unsuccessful loan at Championship side Sheffield Wednesday months earlier, Wolves pushed to sign him permanently from Arsenal and it was an instant hit.

Wolves landed an in form striker, who was full of confidence, and he hit the ground running.

Abraham would look to do the same by stepping up a division, and it may help him, to go straight into a season in the top flight when he is in top form.

It’s a chance Abraham must seize, whether it be loan or permanent. He is doing great at Aston Villa, but the move was to help his development.

He has made up for the time lost at Swansea last season, and must seize the opportunity to become a Premier League regular.
