Wolverhampton Wanderers could make a move for Lille midfielder Renato Sanches in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.
What’s the story?
It has been reported this morning that Wolves wanted to sign Sanches from defending French champions Lille in the summer transfer window.
The Wanderers tried to get a deal done for the Portugal international in the final hours of summer transfer deadline day.
However, no move materialised.
Wolves are still interested in the 24-year-old, according to the report, which has added that the Premier League club are likely to visit the situation when the transfer window opens again in January.
The report has suggested that a move will depend on Sanches recovering from injury.
The former Benfica and Bayern Munich midfielder is on the sidelines at the moment with a meniscal injury.

Sensible idea
If Wolves wanted to sign Sanches this summer, then it makes sense for the Wanderers to continue to monitor the midfielder.
Lille are the defending French champions, but with Lionel Messi having joined Paris Saint-Germain this summer, it is unlikely that they will win the title again this season.
Sanches, a client of super-agent Jorge Mendes, would make Wolves better and stronger in the middle of the park.
The 24-year-old made 14 starts and nine substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Lille last season, scoring one goal and providing three assists in the process.
