Dani Pinillos looked to have an offer on the table from Wolverhampton Wanderers after being released by Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest supporters were divided down the middle when the club choose not to renew Dani Pinillos’ contract at the end of last season.
On one hand, the Spanish left-back hadn’t quite lived up to early expectations since signing from Cordoba in 2015 and spent a year on the sidelines with a cruciate ligament injury, restricting his ability to make an impact in England.
On the other, Pinillos offered tantalising glimpses of his potential in the final few months of the 2016/17 campaign, his combative performances, not to mention a last-gasp equaliser against Derby County, making him a cult favourite among some supporters.

And Forest’s loss could have been Wolves’ gain. The Sun claimed in May that the Midlands outfit were interested in offering Pinillos the chance to continue his development in the Championship.
However, it now appears that they have turned their attention elsewhere. The Express and Star claim Wolves are interested in Scottish left-back Barry Douglas.
Alternative option?
The 27-year-old is a rare example of a Brit abroad, plying his trade in Turkey with Konyaspor after a previous spell with Polish side Lech Poznan, and could cost Wolves £1 million if they beat off competition from Celtic.
The report adds that Douglas was scouted extensively by compatriot and former Wolves boss Paul Lambert and the club remain keen despite replacing him with Nuno Espirito Santo recently.
Douglas would arrive to reinforce a problem position in Wolves squad, although natural right-back Matt Doherty has filled in to great effect on the left in recent months.

However, this leaves Pinillos in the limbo. ABC Andalucía reports that former club Cordoba, who Pinillos helped win promotion to La Liga in 2014, are interested in bringing him back.
And with options drying up, it would be no surprise if the left-back took a step back in order to move forward again.
