Wolverhampton Wanderers fans can be pretty pleased with their start to the season, picking up eight points from their first five Premier League games since returning to the top flight.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side look like they belong at the top level and go into the weekend trip at Manchester United on the back of two consecutive victories.

But one of the players to make a disappointing individual start to the new campaign is attacker Diogo Jota, who played a crucial role at Molineux last season in helping the club achieve promotion from the Championship.

The 21-year-old is yet to register a goal or an assist so far in the Premier League, compared to the 24 goals he was directly involved in across all competitions last season.

He hasn’t quite been able to find any rhythm to his game and has just lacked the composure in the final third, but there are signs that it could be about to turn for him.

Jota seemed back to his sparkling best at the weekend in the 1-0 win over Burnley and looked very confident in possession, proving he can cause real problems for full-backs with his dribbling.

The left-winger was unfortunate not to get any reward for his performance, but if he continues at the same rate should be back in the goals over the next few weeks.

Wolves do have a daunting trip to Man United to get past on Saturday, but the 5ft 8in ace should be looking forward to league games against Southampton, Crystal Palace, Watford and Brighton immediately afterwards.

Jota is an intelligent player that is great at finding pockets of space and receiving ball on the turn, which is why he is due a purple patch of form.
