The Wolves midfielder, who has not featured regularly this season, is reported to be on Atletico Madrid’s radar.

Could things be going any better at Wolverhampton Wanderers currently? Having swashbuckled their way to the Championship title last season, they continue to go from strength to strength this term, sitting seventh in the Premier League table and in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
On Thursday, Wolves issued a contract update which, as well as being a boost for the squad, is also significant due to the snub issued to a team reportedly interested in the player concerned.
Romain Saiss, whose previous contract was set to expire in 2020, has now agreed a new deal until 2021 (official Wolves website) amid reported interest from La Liga and Champions League side Atletico Madrid (Lions de l’Atlas).
The Morocco international, a Walter Zenga signing back in 2016, was crucial for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in 2017-18, featuring in 38 Championship games, although this season he has found game time harder to come by, with just 13 Premier League appearances (Transfermarkt).

Saiss could have been forgiven had he chosen to leave Wolves for Atletico Madrid, given their standing in the European game and the 28-year-old’s lack of minutes this term, but in opting to stay put at Molineux, it’s testament to just how good things are going for the club at the minute.
Wolves have a highly likeable and skilled manager in Nuno Espirito Santo, several elite players like Rui Patricio and Ruben Neves, and even some incredibly bright young prospects like Niall Ennis coming through the ranks, not to mention off-the-pitch stability, and all these ingredients are translating to on-pitch success and tangible progress.
So why would anyone leave, even if a European giant came calling?
