Wolverhampton Wanderers prevented Manchester City from scoring for 120 minutes last night.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves side deserve huge credit for their magnificent performance against Premier League leaders Manchester City last night, merely for the fact that they prevented the Citizens from scoring – the first club to do that in a competitive game since April, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.
Pep Guardiola’s side failed to score against Manchester United on April 27th of this year, but then reeled off 18 consecutive competitive matches scoring at least one goal in every game, a run that came to an end at the Etihad Stadium last night against the Black Country outfit.
Wolves defended resolutely for the entirety of the contest last night, conceding 64 per cent of possession, and surviving City’s 25 attempts on their goal.
24-year-old Will Norris was superb in goal for the visitors, as he and his teammates continuously frustrated the hosts.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been on fire over the past few months, scoring 59 goals in the 18 games that followed their dull 0-0 draw with United in April.

They will have to embark on a new goalscoring run now, however, after Wolves’ resilient display in the Carabao Cup last night.
And the Black Country outfit should take great confidence away with them from the game, as they return to Championship duty on Saturday away at Queens Park Rangers.
