Wolves ace Ryan Bennett spoke to reporters after his side’s win over Newcastle United on Sunday, and opened up on how Nuno Espirito Santo asked him to start utilising his long throw, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The Black Country outfit have made a decent start to their 2018/19 Premier League campaign, and they have really impressed with their exciting, expansive brand of attractive football.

Wolves have proven in recent weeks that they are not a one-trick pony, however.

Bennett has been using his long-throw ability to great effect, and Nuno’s men seem as though they all of a sudden have a totally different dimension to their play in the final third.

The 28-year-old spoke to reporters after Sunday’s win over Newcastle, and shared how his manager asked him directly to bring the long-throw into play, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“It’s just something that the manager has decided that we could add to our game. With the size of Boly and obviously how good he is in the air, why not utilise it every now and again. It came a bit out of the blue, he just told me I was on them, took a couple in training and the first one I put in the other day [against Chelsea] went further than I thought, so it was a surprise to me as well. I did it when I was young. I think it was the Grimsby days when I used to take a few, but it’s not been for a while. I needed WD40 on the shoulders to get it going.”

With Wolves’ new facet to their attacking play, they will be a lot less predictable to play against, and that is exactly what Nuno would have wanted, when introducing the long throw to his sides’ attacking arsenal.
