Wolverhampton Wanderers are undoubtedly a club on the rise.
Wolves ace Matt Doherty sat down for an exclusive interview with the Express & Star, and shared his belief that the club’s owners will splash the cash in the summer, in an attempt to usher in a new era of success at Molineux.
The Black Country outfit currently sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, and need just four more wins to guarantee promotion back to the Premier League.
Nuno Espirito Santo has worked wonders since being handed the reigns at Molineux in the summer, and deserves great credit for the manner in which he has gone about his business at Wolves.
Doherty is one of the players who has flourished under the Portuguese’s reign, and he told the Express & Star how he believes that the sky is the limit for Wolves:
“The backing they have from the Chinese owners is incredible. I wouldn’t be surprised if they spend a lot of money in the summer if we go up. Not that we need to, I think our squad now could do well anyway. But the Premier League, everyone is desperate to stay there, so they probably will splash a bit of cash.”
Nuno’s men can go a long way to securing their place in the top flight for next season over the course of this next week, with games against Middlesbrough away and Hull City at home.
Two wins could actually be enough to cement promotion to the Premier League, should results elsewhere go their way, and it would take a brave man to bet against the doing just that.
