Wolves are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they will face Watford.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Matt Doherty is feeling incredibly optimistic with regards to club matters given their Premier League and FA Cup form.
The 27-year-old has been essential for Wolves this season, playing every single game for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the league and FA Cup, plus one in the Carabao Cup, according to Transfermarkt.
High-end domestic football in England has now taken a pit stop, with the international break under way, and Doherty has joined up with the Republic of Ireland camp with Wanderers flying high in seventh in the Premier League table, plus in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Wolves have taken several notable scalps this season, including Liverpool and Manchester United, so it’s understandable that Doherty is loving life at the minute, and is even confident of going all the way in the world’s oldest cup competition, albeit while urging caution against Watford – a side that have beaten Wolves this term – in the semi-finals.

“My confidence is sky high and probably never been higher,” Doherty is quoted by the Irish Independent as saying. “We’re seventh in the league, in the semi-final of the FA Cup, and for our first season in the Premier League we can’t ask for anything more than that.
“Obviously we could win the FA Cup and there’s a pretty good chance we could do that – but we have to beat Watford first and they have beaten us already this season – but the way we’re playing at the moment, we’d back ourselves to beat anyone.”
The Republic travel to Gibraltar for a Euro 2020 qualifier on Saturday evening before returning to the island for a home game against Georgia on the Tuesday, and domestic football resumes with Wolves heading to Burnley on 30 March.
