Wolves ace Leander Dendoncker has told Belgian outlet HLN he is much happier now he is playing for the first team.

Dendoncker joined from Anderlecht in August, but was only selected to start Carabao Cup games and did not make his Premier League debut until December.

The midfielder has now made three Premier League starts for Wolves, including the win over Leicester at the weekend.

Dendoncker told HLN he was considering quitting Wolves after his underwhelming start to the season.

He said: “The start was very difficult, but the last weeks are going better.

“(You) recharge yourself again to train harder the next day than the players who were in the team selection, then you start thinking about a departure automatically.

“I did not come here for this, I thought, I tried to get ready for the moment that I would have my chance, but it’s good that I’m finally part of the group, of the team.”

Dendoncker had attracted interest from Serie A teams in December amid his slow start at Wolves.

Now he is part of the side, he can put his early few months behind him and view it as part of the process.

Dendocker did not have pre-season at Wolves to adjust, and moving to a new league and culture can be a slow process for foreign players sometimes.

Now the Belgian international is getting his chance to prove himself and he appears determined to take his opportunity.
