Wolves midfielder praises manager’s influence.
Wolves midfielder Joao Moutinho has credited manager Nuno Santo for the club’s excellent start to the season.
The newly promoted side have lost only one Premier League game in their opening eight matches.
They sit in seventh position, just five points off the top.
Mourinho says that manager Nuno Santo deserves the credit.
The Portuguese international told Wolves’ official website: “I knew him, and he is a very good coach. What he did at other clubs he did it very well.
“The coach has a lot of his own characteristics and he puts a lot of himself for the players; what he wants, what he needs to do, and I think on the pitch we do almost 100 per cent what he wants.
“That is why we have started the season very well.”
Moutinho added that it is Santo’s willingness to let the players express their individuality while combining a team first ethic which has helped Wolves flourish.
Wolves host Watford at the weekend, a side who fell back after their promising start lost momentum.
Watford’s performances dropped after the last international break, and Wolves will want to record a home win to keep themselves looking upwards.
They then have a tricky trip to Brighton before games with North London sides Tottenham and Arsenal.
