Wolves skipper Conor Coady pulled no punches when delivering his verdict on his side’s defeat to Huddersfield on Sunday, labelling the performance as their worst of the season so far, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The Black Country outfit made a great start to their Premier League campaign, but they have been brought back down to earth with a bang over the past month or so, taking just one point from their last five league outings.

Wolves were totally outplayed and out-fought by Huddersfield on Sunday, and their recent run of form will be a real concern for Nuno Espirito Santo.

Coady, 25, spoke to reporters after his side’s defeat, and didn’t hold back in his criticism of both himself and his teammates, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“We were really poor today. Every one of the players needs to take responsibility for that. That’s probably the poorest we’ve been all season, if I’m being honest. It wasn’t good from our point of view and Huddersfield came with a game plan, stuck to it and did really well. It wasn’t like us at all – we were sloppy on the ball and we didn’t really get phases of play together, so we’ve got to go back to the drawing board.”

Wolves now face a crucial two-week spell with games against Cardiff City, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Bournemouth to come, and they will surely be targeting at least nine points from those outings.

The Black Country outfit will surely not be involved in a relegation scrap this season, but if they are to enjoy a top 10 finish, they will need to start winning games sooner rather than later.
