Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo held a team meeting following his side’s defeat to Aston Villa.
Wolves ace Benik Afobe spoke exclusively to the Express & Star last night, and opened up on what was said during a team meeting in the aftermath of his side’s 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa 10 days ago.
The Black Country outfit have bounced back well from their mini-blip, winning both their games last week against Reading and Burton Albion respectively, and they now sit 13 points clear of third placed Fulham.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side now seem to be in a great position from which to achieve promotion back to the Premier League, and a few more wins should do the job for them.
Following two defeats in three games against Fulham and Villa respectively, things were not looking quite so rosey for Wolves.
Afobe spoke exclusively to the Express & Star, and shared what was said during a team meeting in the aftermath of his side’s 4-1 defeat at Villa Park:
“We had a meeting last Sunday as a team, the manager spoke to us and we knew what we had to do, it’s as simple as that. It was a very honest meeting, one of the best things about this manager is he doesn’t hide things from us. He tells us what he feels and thinks – it’s never in a vicious or angry way – he’s a very calm guy. He told us what we needed to do as a team. It’s been about the shape and everything we do here is about the team.”
Next up for Nuno’s side is a trip to Middlesbrough on March 30th, before they play host to Hull City four days later, and a pair of wins in those games could actually seal their promotion back to the Premier League, if results elsewhere go their way.
