Wolverhampton Wanderers were comprehensively beaten by Fulham in the Championship on Saturday.
Wolves ace Barry Douglas spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and opened up on what was said in the dressing room in the immediate aftermath of his side’s defeat to Fulham in the Championship on Saturday.
The Black Country outfit have been superb all season long, and currently sit comfortably at the top of the table, six points clear of second placed Cardiff City, although they are in the midst of their first real sticky patch this term.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have taken just two points from their last three games, and with Neil Warnock’s Cardiff side snapping at their heels, tensions are running high at Molineux.
The Black Country outfit were poor against Fulham, and the players must have been disappointed with their performance as a team.
Douglas, who has made 27 Championship appearances for Wolves this season, shared what was said amongst the players in the dressing room after the game at Craven Cottage, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“We’re disappointed. Overall, I don’t think it was good enough and we were the first to say that ourselves in the dressing room. We were a bit flat. I think if you look back at the first half, it was exactly what we set up to do. It was a bit of a sucker punch that they got the goal when they did because our game plan had been effective up until that point. If we’d gone into the break at 0-0 and kept our game plan then we would have created chances. But that’s football and sometimes we need to learn to deal with different situations.”
Next up for Nuno’s side is a home game against Reading on Saturday, before they face a tricky trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds United four days later, and six points from those outings will be a must, if they are to cement their position at the top of the table.
