Arsenal reportedly want to sign Boly from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers – but Nuno’s side are planning ahead already.

It was only a matter of time before the brilliance of Willy Boly became common knowledge outside of Molineux.
This man mountain centre-back has been one of the first names on the team-sheet ever since arriving at Wolverhampton Wanderers from Porto in the summer of 2018 with good reason. He might not receive the plaudits of England hopeful and cheeky chappy skipper Conor Coady but there is no one more consistent in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
You can almost set your watch by Boly, a defender who loves nothing more than an aerial bombardment but combines an outstanding reading of the game with an excellent passing range.
No wonder an Arsenal team who have been lacking any sort of reliability at the back for as long as memory will allow are keen with The Sun claiming that The Gunners could be willing to offer Wolves a big profit on a player they plucked from Portugal for a bargain £10 million.
Wolves don’t want to sell of course and that is more than understandable. If Nuno’s team want to finish in the top half again and force their way into the latter stages of the Europa League, then selling their best defender isn’t the best idea.
But with Fanatik claiming that Wolves are the latest Premier League outfit showing an interest in the £13 million-rated Congolese colossus Christian Luyindama, it seems that the Black Country giants are at least preparing for a worst case scenario.

Luyindama, like Boly, is a tall and powerful centre-back who is at his best when storming onto a cross forehead-first. He’s shone in the Champions League against Fenerbahce and PSG, averaging almost six tackles a game. Luyindama’s passing range (85 per cent), meanwhile, puts Boly (78) to shame.
In short, the former Standard Liege stopper looks every inch a ready-made replacement for Boly. So if the nightmare does happen and Arsenal make an offer he simply cannot refuse, it might not be the end of the world after all.
