Pundit Jamie Carragher has moved to praise Liverpool duo Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott after Saturday’s win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott have been praised by Jamie Carragher as they helped Liverpool to a 3-1 victory over Wolves.

Reds fans were probably fearing the worst at half-time on Saturday.

Liverpool had been dreadful in the first half and were 1-0 down thanks to Hwang Hee-chan’s close-range finish.

Jurgen Klopp’s men roared back in the second half though as Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson turned the game on its head.

Harvey Elliott’s strike was then diverted in by Hugo Bueno, handing Liverpool a 3-1 win at Molineux.

Jamie Carragher moves to praise Liverpool duo Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott

This wasn’t vintage Liverpool but two performances really stood out for former Reds defender Jamie Carragher.

The Sky Sports pundit took to Twitter to call the first-half performance ‘interesting’ but praised defender Quansah and midfielder Elliott.

Carragher called Quansah a ‘big plus’ given that much more experience players around him were all over the place in the first half.

Carragher added that Elliott was ‘excellent’ off the bench as he helped Liverpool secure the 3-1 win late on.

Both Quansah and Elliott are just 20, so seeing two top young talents step up in the Premier League will be a major boost for Klopp.

Quansah and Elliott deserve to play against LASK this week

Liverpool’s attention will now turn to Europa League action this week with the Reds travelling to take on LASK in Austria.

This is a chance for Klopp to rotate some of his squad and maybe given some chances to young players.

Quansah and Elliott showed against Wolves that they can be relied upon and that this is the kind of game they should be playing.

Quansah knows he will end up behind a host of defenders in the pecking order but as long as he impresses in his limited minutes, he will be staking a real claim for European minutes.

Elliott really needs to kick on this season and whilst Liverpool have landed a host of midfielders, he has shown that he can still make a big impact.
