Wolves took the lead as early as the seventh minute when Nouha Dicko shot home from close range after latching onto a pass from Kortney Hause.
Alex Pritchard had a chance for Brentford midway through the first half, but he failed to keep his shot from outside the home team’s box on target.
Danny Batth came close for Wolves, before Pritchard again squandered a chance for Brentford.
Jonathan Douglas saw his attempt to equalise for the visitors in the first minute of the second half go to waste, before Bakary Sako came close for Wolves.
Rajiv van La Parra was unlucky not to double Wolves’ advantage on 72 minutes when his header from close range came back off the Brentford crossbar, but moments later it became 2-0 to the hosts when James Tarkowski scored an own goal.
Wolves were reduced to 10 men on 77 minutes when Kevin McDonald was sent off for a second bookable offence, but it did not affect the final outcome of the match despite Batth scoring an own goal three minutes from full time.
