Reported Wolverhampton Wanderers target Eljero Elia failed to do much of note during his loan spell at Southampton in the Premier League.

According to The Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Eljero Elia from Istanbul Basaksehir in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Wolves, who will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship, are planning a £1.5 million move for Elia and have identified him as a priority signing.

Wolves do need players who have Premier League and international experience, but it is hard to understand why they are (reportedly) targeting the 31-year-old winger.
Elia failed to do much of note in the Premier League when he was on loan at Southampton from German club Werder Bremen.
Signed on loan by the Saints in January 2015, the Dutch winger made nine starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League, scoring just two goals and providing no assist in the process.

True, £1.5m is not much of a transfer fee these days, that the former Juventus winger would still take up a spot in the Wanderers’ Premier League squad that could be given to a youngster or another player.
Wolves would be better off targeting a winger who is younger or has shown that he can succeed in the Premier League.
