Could this be Jed Wallace’s season at Wolverhampton Wanderers?
The midfielder arrived from Portsmouth last summer as one of the Football league’s top prospects, but struggled to nail down a first team place and spent part of the campaign on loan to Millwall.
But having impressed in his last two starts, Wallace finally looks to be gathering some momentum at Molineux.
The 22-year-old recorded his first assist for Wolves in Saturday’s win over local rivals Birmingham City and scored his first goal in Tuesday’s EFL Cup success against Cambridge United – after doubling his tally of set-ups.
Had he not lost a game of rock, paper, scissors to James Henry, Wallace could have crowned an impressive four days with another goal. However, Henry missed the ensuing penalty kick, to the frustration of several Wolves fans on Twitter.
Afterwards, Wallace also took to the social media website, posting: “Another good win. First goal for the club. Onto Saturday.”
We are sure he sounded more delighted in his head, but anyway, at least Jack Price was pleased. “Buzzing for my mate Jed Wallace on his first goal for Wolves,” the 23-year-old, who again impressed for Walter Zenga’s side, tweeted.
Goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was also keen to join the fun, though his memory appeared a little off. “And assist,” he replied to Wallace’s initial post.
