Brighton & Hove Albion are currently 10 points ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship standings.
Kenny Jackett has told Wolverhampton Wanderers’ official site that he wants the club to be as good as Brighton & Hove Albion.
Wolves beat Brighton 1-0 in their latest outing, to record their third victory in succession.
But Jackett was in no mood to revel in his side’s victory, and he insists that Brighton have set to benchmark for Wolves this season.
“We want to be as good as Brighton are and want to be in that position in the league,” he said.
“As a club we have still got some way to go until we do that.
“There are some very good sides up there – the top five have done very well and deserve to be there and now Ipswich have built up some momentum as well.“We aspire to be up there and this season has still been a work in progress and we are not as powerful as we have been.”
Brighton were the early pace setters in the Championship table, and they went unbeaten for 22 matches at the start of the season.
However, the Seagulls have hit a blip more recently, and they have started to slip down the standings.
Following their defeat to Wolves, Chris Hughton’s side are in fourth place – and they are now four points behind the automatic promotion spots.
Wolves still have a look way to go to catch up with the south coast club, however.
Jackett’s men are in 11th place in the Championship table, and are trailing Brighton by 10 points.
