Wolverhampton Wanderers fans will be hoping that their side can climb the table over the second half of the season.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Wolves boss Paul Lambert shared his belief that his players have their enthusiasm for the game back, as quoted by the Express & Star.

The Black Country outfit have taken eight points from a possible 18 available since Lambert’s appointment as manager in November, and now sit in 18th position in the Championship table, just five points clear of the relegation spots.

And Lambert described how his players seem to have the buzz back for playing football, when speaking to reporters ahead of Wolves’ Boxing Day clash against Bristol City, and quoted by the Express & Star:

“I think they enjoy it. I think the enthusiasm for the game is back, which I don’t think was there when we came in. Everything at the minute feels really good for them. Winning against Forest the way we did, it helps that, to build on it. There’s a long way to go but the progress has been very good. They’re a brilliant group of guys here, really good.”

With back-to-back home games next up on the schedule for Wolves, followed by a trip to Sheffield Wednesday on January 2nd, Lambert’s men have a real opportunity to kick on and force themselves up the table during the second half of a campaign that has been so disappointing up to now.

Lambert still has a lot of work to do at the Molineux, but there are at least some positive signs that were certainly not visible during the latter stages of Walter Zenga’s reign.
