Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the verge of signing Joao Gomes with the Flamengo midfielder set for Molineux rather than Newcastle United.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Gomes is heading to England for a medical with Wolves.
Romano claims that the deal is done and dusted with Gomes seemingly just hours away from being confirmed as a new Wolves player.
Romano adds that Wolves will be paying around €17million (£15million) to sign Gomes and lure him over from Brazil.
Paris Saint-Germain ace Pablo Sarabia is also expected to join Wolves very soon as Julen Lopetegui moulds his squad.

Wolves to beat Newcastle United in Joao Gomes race
This will feel like a huge coup for Wolves.
Gomes has been hailed as a ‘bloodhound’ for his all-action midfield performances at Flamengo, becoming one of the top midfield stars at Brazil.
Gomes, 21, has already racked up 117 appearances for Flamengo and has picked up three goals and three assists.
A Copa Libertadores winner and two-time title winner with Flamengo, Gomes has done it all in Brazil and now heads to the Premier League.
Gomes was attracting major interest earlier this season with SPORT claiming that Liverpool and Real Madrid wanted to sign the midfielder.
Italian reporter Rudy Galetti also recently claimed that Newcastle United were very keen on signing Gomes as they look towards the Brazilian market.
The Magpies were targeting Vasco da Gama star Andrey Santos before he picked Chelsea, so ended up turning towards Gomes as a potential alternative.
That’s just how highly Gomes has been rated in Brazil and Wolves will feel that they have secured a huge signing as he heads for his medical.
