The Wolves Under-23s goalkeeper is now contracted to the Molineux club until 2021. He is very highly rated by U23s coach Rob Edwards.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that academy goalkeeper Andreas Sondergaard has signed a new two-and-a-half year contract with the Premier League club.
The Denmark Under-18s stopper, who celebrated his 18th birthday last week, is now tied to the Molineux club until the end of the 2020-21 season.
Sondergaard has featured extensively for the Under-23s this season, testament to his ability and prospects, and has kept four clean sheets in 13 appearances for Rob Edwards’ charges.
Although he is yet to make a senior start, the teenager was part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-team squad which travelled on a pre-season trip to Switzerland last summer.
Highly rated within the U23s setup, Edwards told the official website about Sondergaard: “He’s very good with his feet and technically he’s as good as anyone I’ve seen for a long time in terms of his distribution.”
The fact he is already first choice for the U23s despite his young age would suggest that he is coming in leaps and bounds already, and could potentially have a great future ahead of him.
