Paul Lambert has told the Express & Star that Wolverhampton Wanderers will focus on buying British this summer.
Wolves look set a bottom-half finish in this season’s Championship, despite their transfer net spend stretching well into eight figures.
Of the 13 players who arrived at Molineux under Lambert’s predecessor Walter Zenga at the start of the campaign, only four were native to the Great Britain, whereas both of the Scot’s January recruits were signed from rival second-tier clubs.
Yet while many overseas arrivals have struggled in black and gold, Portuguese pair Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro have been two of Wolves’ best players this season – contributing 28 combined goals and assists between them.

That is something of which Wanderers fans are very aware and – perhaps unsurprisingly – Lambert’s comments have sparked a strong reaction on social media.
