Wolves’ 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest has taken the club far from realistic danger.

As the final whistle blew meaning Wolverhampton Wanderers had defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0, the sense of relief around the Molineux crowd was palpable as it meant their side were 99.9% safe from relegation.
Paul Lambert’s side are now 11 points clear of the drop zone with just six games left to play, but more importantly have broken the magic 50 point barrier, and now sit in the lofty heights of 15th with positive goal difference and 51 points.
It would now take a catastrophic implosion for Wolves to go down now, and with just six games left to play combined with the form that Lambert’s side are on, it’s simply not going to happen this season.
Just as much as the result, you sense that the performance would have pleased Lambert no end – it wasn’t a footballing spectacle by any means, but Wolves showed immense fight, hunger, passion and desire to make sure they got something from this fixture – key traits needed to survive.

Nouha Dicko’s goal came from a brilliant on the line clearance by Conor Coady, but prior to that clearance, Ivan Cavaleiro ran what seemed the length of the pitch to track back and put in a last ditch tackle on Forest forward Zach Clough, highlighting just how much fire Lambert has brought to his side.
Wolves fans can now sit back and relax while all the madness unfurls around them, safe in the knowledge that they will still be a Championship side next season.
