Wolverhampton Wanderers want Matheus Cunha and are pushing to secure his signature quickly before anybody hijacks them.

It’s not all that long ago that we thought Cunha would be on his way to Manchester United.

TalkSPORT reported back in August that Cunha was on the verge of a huge £42million move to Old Trafford.

No deal was done though and whilst Cunha could now head to England, it won’t be with the Red Devils.

Wolverhampton Wanderers want Matheus Cunha

Reports over the last 24 hours have linked Cunha with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Fabrizio Romano has even claimed that Wolves are pushing for a double deal involving Cunha and his Atletico teammate Felipe.

Romano has now added that Wolves are pushing to secure Cunha quickly because of rival interest in the Premier League.

New Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui wants some attacking additions and Cunha appears to be at the top of his list.

Wolves may be rushing so much comes just as reports emerge about Cunha being very in-demand.

Relevo report that Everton and Leeds United have both asked about signing Cunha.

Wolves will be very wary of losing the Brazilian to one of two clubs who figure to be in similar reaches of the Premier League table this season.

So just how has Cunha gone from being linked with United to edging closer to signing for Wolves?

Cunha, formerly of RB Leipzig and Hertha Berlin, has only started two games for Atletico in all competitions this season.

The 23-year-old hasn’t managed a single league goal this term but has been given just 372 minutes of action.

It seems that Diego Simeone just isn’t a big fan of Cunha and with Atletico needing to sell after being dumped out of the Champions League, he is now up for grabs.

Attempting to make this a double deal involving Felipe does complicate matters but Wolves are trying to make sure Cunha heads to Molineux and not Elland Road or Goodison Park.
