Tuesday night’s game against Brentford is vital for Wolverhampton Wanderers in order to claw themselves out of a relegation battle.

Wolves currently sit in 20th place, just a point above the relegation zone, though with two games in hand on most of their closest rivals.

After a close-fought victory over Rotherham ended a run of 7 games without a win, Paul Lambert’s men must now strive to keep their momentum going and take advantage of their games in hand; Brentford will be seen as a winnable match, but the prospect of facing in-form Fulham away from home is much trickier.

Wolves’ run-in to the end of the season is not anywhere near as bad as it could be: though they have upcoming games against high-flyers Brighton and Huddersfield, they also have a number of matches against fellow strugglers like Bristol City and Blackburn that they will look to take full advantage of.

Fans will no doubt be disappointed with Wolves’ season whether they get relegated or not, following big spending on players over the summer. While some, like Helder Costa, have impressed, Wolves’ form has simply not been good enough, and Tuesday’s game will be most important to establish some consistency.
