Wolverhampton Wanderers call for Romain Saiss to be dropped for Premier League opener

Nuno needs to decide whether to put Ryan Bennett or Romain Saiss into Wolverhampton Wanderers’ defence.

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have called for Romain Saiss to be dropped for their opening game, with Ryan Bennett coming in.

Nuno has tested Saiss out in the backline, but his performance in Wolves’ latest friendly did little to convince.

The Moroccan struggled against Villarreal, with Wolves looking a more solid team with Bennett on the pitch.

It leaves Nuno with a selection dilemma ahead of Wolves’ Premier League opener with Everton next weekend.

And Wolves fans are hoping that Nuno gives the English centre-back the nod rather than Saiss.

We looked at home playing against a very good European team today. Apart from a couple of counters that exposed saiss as a weak link in our defence in the first 45, we were IMO, the better team. Second half we were unplayable. Not totally convinced on Rui’s distribution though

Really enjoyed the game today. Jimenez looks tidy up top, Jota was back to his best. Neves and Moutinho ticked sublimely at times. However no to Saiss on the right of defence much better in the second half with Bennett there. Roll on next week #wwfc

Saiss played in midfield for Wolves in the main last term, but the wealth of options Nuno has in the middle of the pitch now means that he may not get much game time in his more natural position.

Bennett excelled in the Championship last term, but he has previously struggled at Premier League level.

Wolves could yet have a new centre-back at the club by the time the competitive action starts up though, with Nuno’s side looking to strengthen their defence further.
