The Tottenham star will not be heading to Germany, with the transfer window there now shut.
Tottenham’s Heung Min Son scores their second goal
Tottenham Hotspur attacker Heung-min Son has been linked with plenty of moves away from the club in the past week or so, with a return to Germany heavily mooted.
One club said to be keen on his signature were VfL Wolfsburg.
The ambitious club were heavily linked with a move for the Spurs player. However, it has now become clear that no deal will be happening.
The German transfer window is now closed and Son remains a Spurs player
Speaking to Sky Sports Germany today, as reported by SportBild, Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs confirmed talks with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy over a deal, but nothing could be put together:
“Sonny has been on our list for many years, but it just does not work.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy
“He would have liked to have come to us, but it was not to be.
“Daniel Levy and I spoke on the phone longer together in the last few days, but it has become clear that Tottenham would not give the player.”
Son had an indifferent first season at the club following his move from Bayer Leverkusen last summer and has been linked with an exit since the end of the season – in which he scored eight goals in 41 appearances for the North London club.
A move to Germany is now off the cards for Son, who has not played for Spurs this season due to international duty with South Korea.
Hopefully he can put the distractions behind him and become a hit at Tottenham Hotspur.
