Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have attempted to distance themselves from reports suggesting that they are keen on Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle.
Wolfsburg sporting executive Klaus Allofs has told Bild that there is no substance to reports linking his employers with a move for Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle.
The Guardian have been among those to suggest that a homecoming could be on the cards for the Germany international.
The World Cup winner was said to be a top target for Wolfsburg, as they endeavour to return the 24-year-old to the Bundesliga.
Schurrle’s lack of action this season has helped to spark the exit rumours, with Jose Mourinho yet to give him a 90-minute run-out in the Premier League this season.
Wolfsburg are aware that they have been mooted as one possible destination for the lively frontman during the January transfer window, but they have been quick to distance themselves from talk of an imminent approach.
Allofs told Bild: “A very clear no. There’s nothing to [the speculation]. Even if we were interested, we’d certainly not be alone.”

Schurrle has been at Stamford Bridge since the summer of 2013.
He penned a five-year contract upon his arrival, so that agreement would take him through to 2018 if it were honoured.
The length of that deal also suggests that Chelsea would demand a sizeable fee for a player that may not figure prominently in their first-team plans, but is a proven performer at the very highest level and has caught the eye in domestic, Champions League and international competition.
