Angel Reese went viral for a three-point practice clip, but the reaction quickly turned into another harsh debate about her shooting mechanics.

The video surfaced after Reese had already drawn attention for making her first three of the season against the Connecticut Sun on June 2.

That timing made the practice footage more interesting. Reese is clearly trying to stretch her game, but fans are still not sold on the way the shot looks.

Angel Reese three-point practice video sparks WNBA fan backlash

Footage shared by Kareem Copeland showed Reese working from deep, and the clip immediately became a referendum on her shooting base and release.

One fan wrote, “Might legit be the worst shooting form I’ve Ever seen. Why they treat her like a make a wish kid?.”

Another user questioned Reese’s footwork, writing, “Who the heck brings their back foot forward on a jump shot? SMH. This form is brutal. So her right foot is back, she is a lefty and then moves her right foot forward? HUH?! She can’t make layups, but practices shooting 3s she almost never makes in a game..”

“Her form is so f_____ bad. How has nobody changed her mechanics,” a third fan added.

Another commenter noted, “I never knew she did that with her leg when shooting threes.”

One said, “From that form I just know she not making even one of them.”

The criticism centered on her footwork. As a left-handed shooter, Reese appeared to bring her right foot forward, which made the motion look awkward to fans watching the clip.

Angel Reese shooting development remains under the microscope

The frustration around the video did not come from one practice rep. It came from the larger conversation around Reese’s offensive growth.

Reese has built her WNBA value through rebounding, physicality and second-chance pressure. That is why every attempt to add shooting range gets judged with unusual intensity.

She did make a three against Connecticut on June 2, a moment that also marked her first triple of the season. That gave the practice clip real context, because it showed an area she is actively trying to develop.

The issue is that fans want the process to look cleaner. Reese’s three-point volume has remained low across her WNBA career, so an unusual practice form can easily become a viral target.

Still, the goal makes sense. If Reese can become even a limited threat away from the basket, it changes how defenses guard her. The form is the question, but the ambition behind the work is not hard to understand.
