Declan Rice called Leandro Trossard ‘my wizard’ on Instagram following Arsenal’s dramatic Community Shield win over Manchester City on Sunday at Wembley.
Mikel Arteta’s side were headed towards a narrow 1-0 defeat when Leandro Trossard, who came off the bench, showcased a bit of magic with his feet from the edge of the area and then saw his shot deflect into the back of the net deep into stoppage-time.
Not a single soul associated with Arsenal cared how that ball went in, they were just pleased that they were rewarded for a game that saw them have to battle hard towards the end.
After forcing that late goal into the net, Arteta and his players then used that momentum and confidence to win the penalty shootout against the Treble winners.
Every man in Arsenal colours put away their spot kick, with Kevin de Bruyne, of all people, smashing his effort onto the crossbar.
Nonetheless, once Arsenal were able to celebrate their Community Shield win, Trossard took to Instagram to express his delight, with his teammates, such as Jurrien Timber and Bukayo Saka showing that they were left impressed, with Edu Gaspar and Ian Wright applauding, and Declan Rice calling him ‘my wizard’ in the comments section.

‘Trophy time’, wrote a smiling Trossard.
Trossard is an underrated figure in the Arsenal team
Last January, Arsenal paid Brighton £27 million (Sky Sports) for Trossard’s services, even though they were initially keen on their first target, Mykhailo Mudryk.
Arsenal couldn’t get their man, as Mudryk ended up joining Chelsea and Trossard moved to the Emirates instead, and during that period, he has been outstanding.
An underrated figure in this team, he impacts the game, scores goals from everywhere, a versatile player, and if Arsenal are to be successful this term, then players like Trossard are going to play a big, big part.
