Martin Keown and Glenn Hoddle said on BT Sport 2 (11:28pm, December 10, 2020) that Celtic’s win against Lille could change their season.
Arsenal legend Keown and Tottenham Hotspur great Hoddle were impressed by Celtic’s performance in the 3-2 win against Lille at Celtic Park in their final Europa League Group H game on Thursday evening.
Although the win does not help the Hoops in regard to progressing further in the European competition, it was their first in a competitive match since November 8.
Hoddle said on BT Sport 2 (11:28pm, December 10, 2020): “When you are not playing so well, you are on a terrible run that they had been on, you are waiting for one performance, for one result that can turn it around, and this could be it.”
Keown said on BT Sport 2 (11:29pm, December 10, 2020) when asked if this could be the turning point for Celtic: “Oh, without doubt, this is definitely the one. Definitely that is an outstanding result for them and one to build upon.”
Turnaround in fortunes for Celtic
Celtic have been disappointing in recent weeks, as they have fallen way behind bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premiership and have been knocked out of the Europa League and the Scottish League Cup.
However, the win against Lille could see the Hoops change their fortunes, and perhaps now the fans could see the team go on a winning run and close the gap on Rangers.
Neil Lennon’s side will return to action on Sunday when they take on Kilmarnock at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership before facing Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Cup final.
