Andy Robertson and John Terry have sent their best wishes to Liverpool defender Joe Gomez following his recent injury news whilst on national duty with England.

In recent seasons, Liverpool’s starting XI have largely avoided any long-term injuries to their players, but in the space of a month, they have potentially lost both of their centre-back’s for the rest of the season.

As reported by BBC Sport, Gomez is set to be out for ‘significant part’ of the season after successful surgery on his knee.

Well, on Saturday, two days after guiding Scotland to the delayed Euro 2020, Robertson posted this message to Gomez on his Instagram story: “With you, all the way brother,” added with a heart emoji.

Aston Villa coach and former Chelsea captain, John Terry also sent his best wishes by reacting to Gomez’s Instagram post. He wrote: “Get well soon.”

Ex-Reds man Pedro Chirivella also responded, he wrote: “Quick recovery bro.”

This now leaves Jurgen Klopp with one senior centre-back to choose from in Joel Matip, but the likes of Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips have impressed in recent weeks – the one issue is that they are inexperienced.

When Fabinho returns from injury, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the versatile Brazilian play alongside Matip, with the two younger lads coming in now and again.

But, from the perspective of Liverpool’s rivals, this opens yet another door in the Premier League title race and makes Klopp’s challenge of defending his crown even tougher.
