Jason Cummings to Rangers deal has reportedly fallen through so should Sunderland reignite their interest in the Nottingham Forest forward?
The future of Jason Cummings remains unclear, with the Scottish Sun reporting a permanent move to Rangers from Nottingham Forest has fallen through.
Cummings spent the latter half of last season on loan at Ibrox, scoring six goals in 18 appearances, having failed to make an impact at Forest after making the move from Hibernian just six months earlier.
The 22-year-old was brought to the City Ground by Mark Warburton, but following his sacking as manager and being replaced by Aitor Karanka, the forward fell out of favour and still plays no part in the Spaniard’s plans.
With a return to Gers seemingly off, Cummings has been left in limbo and it is unclear where the Scotland international will be playing at the start of the next campaign.
Where could he go?
Before the attacker made the switch to the Reds, he was linked with a move to then Championship club Sunderland by the Northern Echo.
The Black Cats have since been relegated to League One, but are hoping to bounce straight back and will be financially backed by new owner Stewart Donald.
Their newly appointed boss Jack Ross is sure to be aware of Cummings’ talents as well, having managed in the Scottish Premiership with St Mirren and could perhaps convince the Scot to drop down to the English third tier.
