Rangers are searching for a new manager after sacking Pedro Caixinha.
Rangers’ search for a new manager has seen a host of names linked with the Ibrox job since Pedro Caixinha’s exit on Thursday, with the Gers taking their time to find a replacement.
After just seven months in the job, Caixinha was sacked less than 24 hours after last week’s 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock, with Rangers deciding that the Portuguese boss wasn’t the man to take the club forward.
Graeme Murty is now in caretaker charge, and kicked off with a 3-1 win at Hearts on Saturday, but Rangers may consider other options, with Derek McInnes and Alan Pardew among those to be linked.
New Director of Football Mark Allen may have a huge say in the appointment, and he should look to bring one surprise name into the frame – Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta.
Arteta, 35, is currently assisting Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, earning valuable experience under one of the world’s top coaches, and Allen will have seen his work first-hand during his time at the Etihad Stadium last season.
Many Rangers fans have been keen to see somebody with a knowledge of the Ibrox club – such as McInnes – but Arteta also has that, having scored 14 goals in 68 games during his time with Rangers, following a 2002 switch.

Arteta has clearly kept Rangers in his heart having advised fellow Spaniard Jon Toral to join the club last season, and his path into coaching suggests that he may be open to becoming a manager himself one day.
With no managerial experience yet, Arteta would be a gamble for Rangers right now, but given his coaching upbringing, and his multiple Rangers having worked with Allen and players for the Gers, the Spaniard could yet emerge as an outside bet for the Rangers job.
