The Birmingham Mail reported over the summer that Elphick was likely to leave Villa Park having fallen out of favour under manager Steve Bruce.

As it was the 30-year-old stayed put, but aside from two appearances in the Carabao Cup was not used by Bruce until coming off the bench during the 0-0 Championship draw with the Lions on December 9.
Now Elphick has started the last three league matches for the Villans, helping them to clean-sheets during victories over Middlesbrough and Bristol City, and the club are no longer sure whether they want the centre-back to leave.

However, despite the uncertainty should Leeds United renew their interest in the former Bournemouth man with options in central defence limited currently for head coach Thomas Christiansen?
Everton loanee Matthew Pennington has played just 11 times for the Whites this season, largely due to injury, while youngster Conor Shaughnessy has often looked shaky when called upon, so perhaps adding the experience of someone like Elphick could be just what Leeds need.
