Liverpool are favourites to sign Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, so if a deal does look likely, should Brendan Rodgers consider asking for a player in return?
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers
Bookmaker Paddy Power has made Liverpool the 15/8 favourites to sign Celtic star Moussa Dembele this summer, and if they do come calling then Brendan Rodgers should perhaps target one of the Reds forwards who he helped turn into one of the Premier League’s best at one time as part of any potential deal.
Daniel Sturridge’s time at Anfield appears to be coming to an end, according to the Mirror, and while he may have a host of clubs currently after his signature, a loan move to Celtic may well appeal to the striker.
The 27-year-old is arguably now better known for his struggles with injuries than his ability in front of goal, which is a massive shame considering that he has scored 45 Premier League goals in 83 games for the Reds.
With many of those goals coming when Rodgers was in charge on Merseyside, the chance to link up with him once again may tempt him to ignore interest from elsewhere and choose Parkhead.
Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge
It does seem incredibly unlikely that a loan deal may be possible. Paris Saint-Germain, West Ham and Stoke all want the former Chelsea man and Liverpool value him at £30 million, the Mirror added.
But, as it may not be difficult to imagine all of the clubs being put off his asking price due to his injury record – though the Mirror stated that PSG want him on loan – Jurgen Klopp may run out of possible options as he tries to get him off their books.

Therefore, if the Reds come calling for Dembele as the bookies expect them to, then Rodgers offering to take Sturridge off their hands – albeit temporarily – as part of the deal may seem like an ideal option to Klopp, who has never been able to get the best out of the England man.
And having seen what Rodgers has done to some of the previously-struggling Celtic stars – the likes of Scott Sinclair, Stuart Armstrong and James Forrest spring to mind – and knowing how well he played under him at Anfield, perhaps Sturridge may view a loan move to the Scottish Premiership as an opportunity to build some confidence and rediscover his best form in front of goal.
