The midfielder is out of contract at Cardiff City this summer and could do a job at Leeds United.

While Leeds United are enjoying a superb campaign, their reliance on striker Chris Wood is plain to see.
The New Zealand international has scored 25 goals in all competitions this season, and his 22 goals in the Championship have played a major part in the club’s surge into the play-off places.
The problem is, aside from Wood no one is really pulling their weight in the goal-scoring stakes, with the Whites’ midfield woeful in that regard.
Winger-cum-striker Souleymane Doukara has scored five times this season while play-maker Pablo Hernandez has chipped in with four goals, but central midfielders Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips have only one goal each while Liam Bridcutt and Eunan O’Kane are yet to score all season.
In short, Leeds overlooked and then sold their only goal-scoring midfielder Alex Mowatt, leaving them with limited options if and when Wood fails to deliver.
With that in mind, there is a soon-to-be free agent Leeds would be wise to at least consider this summer in the form of Peter Whittingham.
The 32-year-old certainly knows how to find the back of the net, as his 95 goals for Cardiff City testify.
He also has 92 assists, marking him out as a creative catalyst Leeds would be foolish to dismiss.

With his contract at Cardiff expiring this summer Whittingham will be available for nothing more than a signing-in fee, and although much will depend on which division Leeds find themselves in, a move for Whittingham would certainly add more goal threat from central areas.
Leeds do not have an attacking midfielder coming through the ranks who will be ready any time soon, and it is up to manager Garry Monk to identify and sign the players who can ease the pressure on the club’s strikers.
Someone will be lucky to get Whittingham on a free this summer but only time will tell if Leeds are that club.
