Newcastle eyed up Legia’s Michal Pazdan over the summer, but with Florian Lejeune back and Jamaal Lascelles in-form, they may not need to bid come January.
Newcastle United were linked with a move for Polish international centre-half Michal Pazdan in the summer, as reported in The Telegraph. However, with Jamaal Lascelles in fine form and summer signing Florian Lejeune returning from injury, there may be no need for Rafa Benitez to launch another bid to bring the Pole to St James’ Park.
The Magpies have Chancel Mbemba, Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett as viable centre-half alternatives to Lascelles and Lejeune and after such a solid start to the season defensively, Rafa Benitez may prioritise bringing in another striker to ease the attacking burden on Joselu’s shoulders.
Fellow Premier League duo Crystal Palace and West Brom were also interested in bringing the 29-year-old to England over the summer (The Telegraph), a year on from his outstanding showings at EURO 2016, and could both look to reignite their interest ahead of a proposed £3 million switch.
With Jamaal Lascelles tipped as a potential late call-up to England’s 2018 World Cup squad based on recent performances, the decision not to sign Pazdan may just pay off should the former Nottingham Forest man keep up his current level of performances.
