West Ham United striker Andy Carroll was linked with Everton in October.
West Ham United kick off the David Moyes era with a defeat, as they were beaten 2-0 away at Premier League rivals Watford on Sunday afternoon.
The Hammers replaced Slaven Bilic with David Moyes earlier this month, but the Scot’s debut as West Ham boss ended in defeat at Vicarage Road, following goals from Will Hughes and Richarlison.
West Ham failed to really make any sort of impact on the game, and Moyes will be particularly concerned with the performance of striker Andy Carroll.
The 28-year-old was lucky to get away with an early elbow on Marvin Zeegelaar, and ended up getting booked for a challenge on Richarlison, summing up a poor performance from the giant striker.
Carroll has yet to score this season, and he didn’t look any more likely to score against Watford, with his season so far not going according to plan, with any lingering hopes of a World Cup place now surely dying.
Similarly unlikely is a possible move to Everton, given that reports from The Sun in October suggested that the Toffees were lining up a January move to sign the former Liverpool striker.
A beanpole striker may have made some sense under Ronald Koeman, but with the Dutchman sacked last month, a move to sign Carroll seems almost impossible, especially with no manager in place at Goodison Park.
With his elbowing becoming a problem again, having been sent off at Burnley last month, and his lack of goals this season, Carroll may not attract much interest in January – and Moyes needs to find a way to get the best out of the striker as he looks to drag West Ham away from the relegation zone.
